Free crochet pattern: Amigurumi hedgehog plushie pattern
Hi there,
Welcome to AsmiHandmade
This is my first post after I moved from hookingtheyarn to AsmihHandmade.
I have been planning to do this since I started my Etsy store, but hadn’t found time.
Frankly, maintaining an Etsy store is more work than I thought. But I’m glad I finally got around to do it.

Today I’m here to post my pattern for Pokie the hedgehog. If you don’t know how to crochet, but would still like to have a Pokie for yourself, do visit my Etsy store and you can buy one there, or have one made in your favourite colour just for yourself 🙂
Pokie the hedgehog is a cute little plushie which can also be used as a keychain, a bag charm, birthday gift and also a great stocking stuffer (Christmas is less a month away). You can make this hedgehog with left over yarn scraps. It whips up very quick. The yarn is an absolute pleasure to work with and the ergonomic Knit pro crochet hooks are soft on your hands too.

If you would like to download a printable version of this pattern, you can do so on my Etsy store.

How to crochet a hedgehog:
We start with the nose, followed by face and then the body.
Nose (With black yarn, 3mm hook):
Make a magic circle.
Rnd 1: 6sc into the circle.
Rnd 2: 6sc in each st around. (6 sts)

Join light brown yarn before starting the next step.

Face(light brown yarn, 3mm hook):
Rnd 3: 6sc in each st around (6 sts). Place marker at the beginning of the round, and move it up as each round is completed.
Rnd 4: (1sc in the next st, 2sc in next st)* around (9 sts)
Rnd 5: 1 sc in each st around (9 sts)
Rnd 6: (1sc in the next 2 sts, 2sc in next st)* around (12 sts)
Rnd 7: 1sc in each st around (12 sts)
Rnd 8: (1sc in the next 3 sts, 2sc in next st)* around (15 sts)
Rnd 9: 1sc in each st (15 sts)
Rnd 10: (1sc in the next 4 sts, 2sc in next st)* around (18 sts)
Rnds 11-12: 1sc in each st around
Add 2 safety eyes. I like to add them on the sts in Rnd 8.
After fixing the washer on the safety eyes, I put some super glue on the washer to make sure it doesn’t come off.
No need to weave in the ends of nose and face. Just tuck them inside and they are safely hidden 🙂
Join body colour yarn before starting the next step.

Body (Any yarn colour of your choice. 4mm hook)
Rnd 13: ((sl st, ch1, Bobble, 1sc) in next st, 1 sc in next st) *around
Rnd 14: (1sc in bobble to ch, 1sc in next sc) *around
Rnd 15: 1sc in each st
Rnd 16: Repeat Rnd 13
Rnd 17: Repeat Rnd 14
Rnd 18: (1sc, sc2tog) *around
Start stuffing the hedgehog now.
Rnd 19: Repeat Rnd 13
Rnd 20: Repeat Rnd 14
Rnd 21: (sc2tog) *around
Check if the stuffing is enough, if not stuff more.
Rnd 22. Fasten off and close the hole.

You can add a keyring to it make it a keychain or a bag charm. J
I hope you enjoy making this hedgehog as much as I did.

Please be respectful and do not sell or distribute the pattern to others. Instead, please share the link to the original post. A lot of love and effort has gone into designing this pattern.
You can however sell the finished products by giving credit to Asmi Handmade as the pattern designer and adding a link to this post. Thank you for your understanding. J

Note: This pattern calls for safety eyes and hence should not be left unsupervised around a child, as it can be a choking hazard.

Till I post again!
