Amigurumi Carrot free crochet pattern
Learn to make this cute Amigurumi Carrot using the Amigurumi Carrot free crochet pattern. It’s made using worsted weight yarn and is the perfect size for a tiny carrot figurine. Supplies:
- Small amount of any worsted weight yarn (4-Medium) in orange colour. I have used Red Heart Super saver yarn in the colour Carrot
- Small amount of any yarn in green yarn
- 3mm crochet hook / suitable crochet hook
- Large eye tapestry needle and scissors
- Stitch markers (to mark the beginner of the round)
- Stuffing
Abbreviations:
- Ch – chain
- MC – Magic Circle
- Sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- inc – 2 single crochet in the specified stitch (this is an increase)
- dec – sc2tog in the specified stitches
- [Number] – Stitch count at the end of the round
- sc [x] – If you see sc followed by a number x, then make 1 sc in the next x stitches

Construction:
The carrot is worked in continuous rounds , the leaves are crocheted separately and then sewn on to the carrot.
Pattern Notes:
- This project is made with worsted weight yarn, however there is no gauge required, so your can use any yarn with a suitable hook.
- WARNING: Embroider the eyes if using it as a toy for babies. French knots work great. Plastic safely eyes can be a choking hazard. If you want to add a face to the carrot, I’d recommend French knots using thin black yarn/threas.
Generic Amigurumi Tips:
- Amigurumi always looks better when the stitches are tighter, this also prevents the stuffing from poking out. Use 1 size smaller hook than your yarn calls for.
- The look of the Amigurumi finished object depends a lot on how you stuff it. Don’t be impatient and stuff too much in one go. Do it in bits.
- Always pin the body parts together before you start sewing. Be it the limbs or the eyes, mouth, ears, antlers, horns, wings etc. Doesn’t matter even if they are really small parts, pinning them helps. They always turn out better when you do this. I say this from personal experience. 🙂
Pattern:
Carrot:
- MC
- R1: 4 sc in the MC [4]
- R2: 1 sc in each stitch around [4]
- R3: 4 inc [8]
- R4: 1 sc in each stitch around [8]
- R5: (sc 1, 1 inc); rep from * all around [12]
- R6-7: 1 sc in each stitch around [12]
- R8: (sc 2, 1 inc); rep from * all around [16]
- R9-11: 1 sc in each stitch around [16]
- R12: (sc 3, 1 inc); rep from * all around [20]
- R13-20: 1 sc in each stitch around [20]
- R21: (sc 3, 1 dec); rep from * all around [16]
- R22: (sc 2, 1 dec); rep from * all around [12] Fasten off, thread the tail into a tapestry needle and cinch the hole shut
Leaves(Make 3):
Picot: ch 3, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook
- Ch16
- R1: 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook, 1 sc in the next 13 ch, 3 sc inc in last ch, do not turn, work on the other side of the chains, 1 sc in the next 13 ch, 2 sc in the last chain. Do not join or turn.
- R2: Continue working in the round, *(1 sc into the next stitch, picot, sl st into next stitch); rep from* 16 times all around, 1 sc in the next st.
Don’t cut yarn and continue making the stem.
Leaf Stem:
Ch7, turn, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in the next 5 ch, join back to the base of the leaf using 1 sc.
Fasten off and weave in the tail ends for all 3 leaves.
Finishing:
After you’ve made 3 such leaves, continue below:
Join new yarn to one leaf stem using sc, ch3, join another leaf stem using sc, ch3, join another leaf stem using sc, ch3 and join back to first leaf stem.
Fasten off with a long tail to sew. The leaves are now joined in a circle and sew them to the top of the carrot and you’re all done!!
